Mexico when to go depending on what you are looking for

The answer is: it depends! First because depending on what you are looking for (deserted beaches or Movida, savings or eventful period … and so on) it may be better to go in one period rather than another. Second, because Mexico is very vast: it has 4 time zones, 4 deserts, two oceans, and even mountainous areas. So it’s not just the sea, sun, and cheap shopping. It is a place full of possibilities with different situations depending on the climate and the tourist flow. So if you have decided to visit Mexico, when to go is one of the most important choices to make!

Mexico when to go to save

To save the best time to travel to Mexico is the low season:

From July to mid-November If you want to visit the Yucatan.

From August to September for the Pacific Coast.

From mid-June onwards,  the heat increases in areas such as Baja and prices fall.

From November to mid-February for Mexico City (excluding high season periods such as Christmas and New Year).

Mexico when going for beaches and good weather

If you want to visit Mexico with sufficiently hot temperatures and just water for swimming and maybe not too many people, the best time is from December to May. But here are some other suggestions:

From mid-October to mid-November the Pacific coast ( Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta ) is at the end of the rainy season, but still not overrun by tourists.

At the beginning of December, the Yucatan peninsula ( Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum ) has a pleasant climate and is still not too crowded.

If you are looking for a cooler time, the idea is to start in January or February.

Mexico when to go if you love the nightlife

If instead of looking for the less crowded times you are lovers of the nightlife know that:

Between March and April, in correspondence with the American Spring Break, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta live their most festive period.

Between May and July, Cancun is full of parties for the young that arrive fresh from the diploma.

Mexico when going to see whales

The whale watching is a popular activity along the Pacific coast.

From the beginning of November but better if in January or February you will have a good chance of meeting humpback whales in places like Puerto Vallarta.

From January to March, on the other hand, it is the best time to meet whales, head whales and especially gray whales that are used to approaching boats in the Baja California Peninsula.

Mexico when you go if you love mountains

The Sierra Madre mountain range extends throughout the country from north to south. The mountains cross over a thousand kilometers, with summits that reach 1800 meters and peaks up to 3000. The climate here is typically dry during the day and cool at night. The rainy season is from June to October, but it is less intense here thanks to the topography of the mountains which tends to mitigate the climate. If you are interested in a more adventurous trip, including trekking, climbing, mountain biking, and hiking, the best time may be the dry season to have more time for your outdoor activities, but always with the risk of lower temperatures.

To travel to a country as vast as Mexico when to go has, therefore, a variable answer. Remember that this is a country so different from what we are used to, and choosing the right time can be the key to making the experience more like an experienced traveler than a tourist who is duped. So … ” Que la Fuerza de la viajar te acompaƱe! “
